Cancún is the gateway to the Mexican Caribbean: white-sand beaches, cenotes and Maya ruins a couple of hours away. The Hotel Zone holds the resorts; Downtown is cheaper and more local.
📅 Suggested days: 4–5
Things to do in Cancún
Swim in a cenote
Cenotes like Dos Ojos or Ik Kil are crystal-clear freshwater caves, great for snorkeling.
Visit Chichén Itzá or Tulum
Two Maya sites 2–3h away; go early to beat the heat and crowds.
Ferry to Isla Mujeres
20-min ferry from Puerto Juárez; rent a golf cart and circle the island in a day.
Snorkel the reef
Part of the world's second-largest reef; tours leave from Cancún and Puerto Morelos.
Best time to go. December to April: dry weather, turquoise water and little rain. Avoid September–October for hurricane season.
Local tip 🧭 Buy water and snacks Downtown or at an OXXO before heading to the Hotel Zone: prices inside the resorts are triple.
